Sophie - 2022

My beautiful best friend, Sophie and I met through a wildlife Instagram group chat, instantly bonding over our shared love for nature. She’s a passionate vet nurse and wildlife carer, always ready to lend a hand to animals in need. We were on a trip with friends visiting Bald Rock National Park, NSW when I made this image. After Sophie moved a blue-tongue lizard off the road to safety, I photographed her  using my Yashica on 120 black-and-white film. The connection she has with wildlife shines through in every gesture, making this portrait even more special.
